Honestly, Frühlingsfest is my favorite festival of the year! Munich locals call it the “Little Oktoberfest” because it likewise celebrates a transition of seasons but is a lesser known affair. This is the chance for Bavarians to cast off the winter and celebrate the beauty of springtime in Germany. Drink beer, admire the dirndls, and relish the carnival atmosphere. But wait, there’s more! The opening Saturday of the festival serves as a Spring cleaning bazaar. The largest flea market in Southern Europe is a wonderful opportunity for Münchners to empty out their closets and sell their hidden gems. Search for treasures and souvenirs right outside the fest tents, before heading to our reserved seating for bottomless liters of beer.
